Terms of use
Last updated: 24 October 2026
In short: MCS-Relay is for playing with people you trust. When you host a server, the files in its folder run on your PC, and every member of the server can change those files. The app is free and comes without any warranty.
About these terms
These terms apply when you use MCS-Relay, the free Windows app for hosting a Minecraft server in turns from a shared Google Drive folder, made by yeet30 (github.com/yeet30/MCS-Relay). The app asks you to agree to them once for each Google account you sign in with. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The source code is published under the MIT license. These terms do not take away anything that license allows you to do with the code.
Play only with people you trust
This is the most important part of these terms.
- A server in MCS-Relay is a Google Drive folder shared between its members. Every member who can play can upload changes to any file in it.
-
When you host, MCS-Relay starts the Minecraft server from that folder on your PC: Java runs the server
.jarwith its mods, plugins and libraries. These files are programs. They run with the same rights as your Windows account, so they can read, change and send your files like any program you open yourself. - A member with bad intentions, or a member whose Google account or PC was taken over, could therefore put harmful software into the server folder, and it would run on the PC of the next member who hosts.
- MCS-Relay does not check, scan or isolate the files members upload, and it cannot tell a harmful mod from a good one.
So:
- Only create, join and invite people to servers with people you trust. Give "Can play" only to people you trust; "Can view" members cannot change files.
- Keep your antivirus on and Windows up to date.
- If mods, plugins or programs appear in a server that nobody told you about, ask the other members before you host it.
- Remove members you no longer trust. They keep whatever they already downloaded.
What you are responsible for
- What you upload and share through MCS-Relay, and having the right to share it (for example mods, plugins and worlds made by others, under their own licenses).
- Following the rules of the services you use with it: the Minecraft EULA and Mojang's guidelines when you run a server, the Google Terms of Service for Google Drive, and playit.gg's terms if you use playit.gg.
- Not using MCS-Relay to spread harmful software, to get into other people's PCs, accounts or files, or for anything else that is against the law.
- Keeping your Google account safe, for example with 2-Step Verification: anyone who gets into it can change your servers.
You need a Google account to use MCS-Relay, so Google's age rules apply. If you are not old enough to agree to these terms where you live, a parent or guardian has to agree for you.
Your data
What the app does with your Google account and Drive is described in the privacy policy. In short, MCS-Relay has no servers of its own: it works between your PC and Google.
Your worlds and backups
A server's files are kept in Google Drive and take up the storage of the members who upload them. MCS-Relay tries hard not to lose anything, but bugs, conflicts, other members and the services it relies on can still damage or overwrite a world. Make backups of any world you care about, with the app's Backups window or your own copies. A backup in the cloud can be downloaded and restored by every member of the server, and a backup holds whatever was in the world, so restore only backups from people you trust.
No warranty
MCS-Relay is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, the authors of MCS-Relay are not liable for any damage or loss that comes from using it, including harm caused by files that other members share, lost or damaged worlds, and problems with Google Drive, Java, Minecraft or playit.gg. Where the law does not allow these limits, they apply as far as it does.
Not official
MCS-Relay is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. It is not made or endorsed by Google or playit.gg. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB. Google Drive is a trademark of Google LLC.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the new version is published on this page with a new date, and every earlier version stays visible in the project's history on GitHub. When a change matters for your safety or your rights, the app asks you to agree again.
Stopping
You can stop using MCS-Relay at any time: sign out, take back its access in your Google Account, and uninstall it. The privacy policy explains how to remove what it stored.
